Sean has been a staple in the Calgary baseball community as a coach for 15+ years coaching players as young as 8 years old all the way up to 19. Creating relationships and passion for the game is what drives Sean to continue coaching. In addition to baseball experience, Sean also has a Bachelor degree in Sport Management and a Master’s degree in Sports Administration and strongly values continuing education and non-stop learning both on and off the diamond.
When asked about helping continue the legacy of the Calgary Redbirds, and Jim Lawson, Sean’s words were “The reputation of the Calgary Redbirds goes way beyond having a team wearing the Redbirds uniform but what that uniform stands for. For me, the Calgary Redbirds is a great opportunity to continue to use my passion for baseball and youth development to influence players both on and off the field to achieve their dreams as well as develop their work ethic, character and ability to work together towards a common goal. The game of baseball has the ability to teach players so much more than the skills of the sport, but also many of the life skills that are rarely taught in other aspects of life. My involvement with baseball has been a rewarding one to date watching players both continue their baseball careers into postsecondary and beyond but also where their paths lead them into other careers and experiences. It’s about more than the game but about a lifestyle and habits of being successful into adulthood and I am honoured to have the opportunity to be a part of a great team of coaches and dedicated individuals looking to keep the legacy of Jim and the Calgary Redbirds ongoing.
